Essential Oils

So I have discovered something super fascinating! Essential Oils. Perhaps I’m late to the game but I just found out about them.

I was super skeptical at first thinking it’s probably  just a placebo effect. What can ONE drop of oil truly do even if it is pure and natural? The class I went to though (before I tried it) mentioned how it was in the Bible and how God placed oils on this earth for us and the provided a few different verses where oils were brought up and to use them with the power of God. I was still really skeptical and though perhaps they were just using religion as a form to sell. But the verses provided still made me think more about it. He did put these things on the Earth for us, that is what they used before medicine was natural herbs, plants, etc. And pharmaceuticals do have an agenda to make money and all medications have side effects. Could an oil really do something though?

I decided to host another party with some close friends. I received a few samples beforehand to try. One to help with breathing due to allergies or cold, another for appetite suppression and a third for help with digestion. My daughter is 5yrs old. Obviously the placebo effect would not work on a 5 year old she has no idea what I even put on her or for what purpose, but before bed I put a drop in my palms and rubbed them on the bottom of her foot. Every night she gets a stuffy nose due to allergies (allergic to dust, just my luck). So I figured let’s try it. I took the appetite suppression and my boyfriend who has acid reflux used the digestion one.

I was so pleased to know that it worked. But could it really? My daughter didn’t wake up with a stuffy nose and when I checked on her that night she was breathing clearly. Coincidence? Well, I tried it two more nights and same effect. I decided to not use and it and sure enough stuff nose. That alone was enough for me to want to buy that product.

The appetite suppression (control) one I used, didn’t make me really crave less persay but I would say it made me go to bathroom with more regularity and not to be gross but with more content which is super rare for me. I was actually pleased. I feel a lot of my weight issues are build up because of the fact that I’m not excreting as much as what I believe to be normal but this has helped with it.

The one my boyfriend used he said did help ease his stomach. However he’s still a skeptic and hasn’t used it often but he was intrigued as to why.

Once my party came along and I received more information as did my friends who also ordered a bottle of whatever oil they wanted, I decided to order a kit (as every oil I was interested in was basically in the kit). I didn’t want to sell and I’m not sure how I feel about it now. If I do just for friends who want the product not so much to recruit, etc.

But as I’m waiting for my kit which arrives tomorrow, I’ve been going pinterest crazy with researching other uses, combinations, etc. I’m eager to try a bug repellant combo for my home and one for skin for my arms. My boyfriend is also eager to try a combination for his barbering.

I’ll let you know how my experiences go with essential oils though. I’m really excited!

My Spiritual Gifts

I did this really awesome test about my spiritual gifts and below are my top 3 results. 🙂

MERCY

All Christians are called to be merciful because God has been merciful to us (Matthew 18:33; Ephesians 2:4-6).  The Greek word for the spiritual gift of mercy is Eleeo.  It means to be patient and compassionate toward those who are suffering or afflicted.  The concern for the physical as well as spiritual need of those who are hurting is covered by the gift of mercy.  Those with this gift have great empathy for others in their trials and sufferings.  They are able to come alongside people over extended periods of time and see them through their healing process.  They are truly and literally the hands and feet of God to the afflicted.

The Holy Spirit gives the spiritual gift of mercy to some in the church to love and assist those who are suffering, and walk with them until The Lord allows their burden to be lifted.  The gift of mercy is founded in God’s mercy towards us as sinners and is consistently expressed with measurable compassion.  Those with this gift are able to “weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15) and “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2).  They are sensitive to the feelings and circumstances of others and can quickly discern when someone is not doing well.  They are typically good listeners and feel the need to simply “be there” for others.  See Romans 12:8, Matthew 5:7; Luke 10:30-37; James 3:17; Jude 22-23.

FAITH

The spiritual gift of faith is not to be confused with saving faith.  All Christians have been given saving faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), but not all receive this special gift of faith.  The word for faith in the New Testament is Pistis.  It carries the notion of confidence, certainty, trust, and assurance in the object of faith.  The gift of faith is rooted in one’s saving faith in Christ and the trust that comes through a close relationship with the Savior.  Those with this gift have a trust and confidence in God that allows them to live boldly for Him and manifest that faith in mighty ways.

In the Bible the gift of faith is often accompanied by great works of faith.  In Acts 3:1-10 we see this gift in action when Peter sees a lame man at the Beautiful Gate and calls on him to stand up and walk in the Name of Jesus.  Jesus said even a small amount of this faith could move mountains (Matthew 17:20; 21:21).  Paul echoed this truth in 1 Corinthians 13:2.

The Holy Spirit distributes this gift to some in the church to encourage and build up the church in her confidence in God.  Those with the gift of faith trust that God is sovereign and He is good.  They take Him at His Word and put the full weight of their lives in His hands.  They expect God to move and are not surprised when He answers a prayer or performs a miracle.

GIVING

The Greek word for the spiritual gift of giving is Metadidomi.  It simply means “to impart” or “to give.”  However, this word is accompanied in Romans 12:8 by another descriptive word: Haplotes.  This word tells us much more about the kind of giving that is associated with this gift.  The word Haplotes means “sincerely, generously and without pretense or hypocrisy.”

The Holy Spirit imparts this gift to some in the church to meet the various needs of the church and its ministries, missionaries, or of people who do not have the means to provide fully for themselves.  The goal is to encourage and provide, giving all credit to God’s love and provision.  Those with this gift love to share with others the overflow of blessings God has given them.  They are typically very hospitable and will seek out ways and opportunities to help others.  The are also excellent stewards and will often adjust their lifestyles in order to give more to the spread of the Gospel and the care of the needy.  They are grateful when someone shares a need with them, and are always joyful when they can meet that need.  See Romans 12:8, 13, 2 Corinthians 8:1-5; 9:6-15; Acts 4:32-37, Galatians 4:15, Philippians 4:10-18.

Movements, Projects, Groups

To go withy my post yesterday about my calling and wishing there was some kind of job that satisfied me as much as helping others in my personal life does, I’ve received some nice suggestions.

Civil Rights Movements. The innocence project. Advocacy Groups. That’s where I should be looking. But as I look further and further into it, I’m realizing where I live and where these are located are sometimes hundreds of miles to states away. Great…..

My boyfriend suggested becoming a counselor of some kind. Yea, that’s close. I think another place I’m convicted at is being told to not give advice. I understand that working for an attorney or solicitor as my past jobs. But I want to be able to help, have that Catch 22, I’m not a professional, You should seek help from a professional, but this is what I think/feel/believe.

Anyone have any thoughts on where I can continue my search for this kind of opportunity in life?

My Calling

Calls you

So I think I am slowly discovering what my calling is in life, however I don’t think there is really a job associated with it. Over the years, I’ve helped a lot of people with resumes, job hunting, custody issues, criminal issues, etc. by just giving advice or how to’s or just hand holding through the process. Most recently I was contacted to help with getting someone into rehab. I’ve realized that once I’m called into action for help, I go far above and beyond at least I think so. I know when I’ve asked for help, I don’t receive a me in return. But regardless, I make the calls, I do the research, I go through orientations, etc. And in return I get a great feeling just knowing I was able to help, that I made a difference.

I love doing that. I love being able to help. Especially helping those who are just lost find their way. The world is a big scary place and if you don’t have the knowledge or know how to look for it you really can just become overwhelmed and quit. I’m glad I can be that support. I’m glad that’s one of the talents God gave me is to help other people in so many different aspects. Like I said before I’ve helped with jobs, careers, taxes, custody, child support, criminal procedures, victim help, etc.

Now to find something where I can do that full-time and know my bills will still be paid. But for now I will just thank God for giving me this gift and providing me the tools to help others.

Valentines Day

Another hallmark celebration. Not that I hate the holiday. It’s a nice way to just celebrate love. It’s nice to have a day dedicated to it. But this year we’ve decided not to celebrate. We’ll buy something for my daughter I’m sure but nothing for ourselves.

In a way it’s kind of a relief. We out competed during Christmas on gifts and really kind of just took the meaning away from it all. I’m hoping with no gifts, no going out, perhaps we can just enjoy eachother’s company. Asking too much? Guess I’ll find out huh?

Anyway, what are your thoughts on valentines? anything exciting? Proposals anyone? As corny as it sounds,  I think it’s cute. And if for some reason it doesn’t work out you have an excuse to use. It was just the day made it seem right, made me say yes, made me ask. Shoulda known it was a curse to start. Haha. No but really it’s somewhat romantic.

At work we gave out candygrams to other coworkers. Which is great since I really work with 97% woman haha. Don’t have to worry about any 2nd meaning with any of these.

What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you on Valentines? When I was in an abusive relationship, I was left home (he went out with someone else I’m assuming) and when he came back drunk I was the punching bag. Needless to say, I’m not in that situation anymore but it makes me know that even if I do nothing on valentines day, it’s better than the past ones I may have had. And really that’s all that counts.

Interview?

I have to interview someone with some pre-written questions…Obviously this is the online world so if you want to make stuff up it’s not like I will know. I’m listing the questions below. Herba what

Before and after - Copy

I am deciding to take my weight program a little more extreme (not extreme but serious). My cousin is a distributor for herbalife. Honestly, I’m not a believer for a quick fix or for anything that is a direct selling company. But after talking to her and seeing her results (see pics above), I’ve decided to really give it a chance. It really is so much more than just using their products, heck she doesn’t even try to sell them to me, she really just tries to coach me and tell me how to eat better, exercises to try, tips, etc. I love it and that’s why I decided to try some of the products. I ordered a meal shake (cookies and cream), an aloe tea, and something called prolessa duo which is supposed to be a fat burner. The shakes and aloe tea are what I am really looking forward to.

plate - Copy

I shouldn’t skip meals but breakfast by far is the easiest for me to skip. Lunches I hate to pack and dinner is simple for me to actually have. Because of what I want to do she has recommended I do two shakes a day in place of actual meals and then a good dinner (to include some greens — see her suggestion below). There should always be snacks in between, veggies, fruits, nuts, yogurt, something. And of course tons of water daily. I feel like this helps me so much. I had such a fear of all the things I had to give up with food but she gave me awesome suggestions for the foods I love to eat.

Day 1 and 30 - Copy

Obviously I don’t sell herbalife but if you’re interested I’m putting her info below. She’s real, I know her in person, and I knew her before the results so I know that it works, what she’s doing, her lifestyle change works. It’s not a fad, it’s not a get skinny quick scheme, It just works.

Here’s her number for more info: 📲 508-873-5659
